Eigenvideo Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Eigenvideo iOS app and the Eigenvideo website handle information.

1. The Eigenvideo iOS App

Eigenvideo is designed to process your video library on your iPhone.

The app does not upload your photos, videos, thumbnails, filenames, Photos library identifiers, or location metadata to Eigenvideo or its developer. Eigenvideo does not contain advertising or cross-app tracking. Optional product analytics is described below.

Photos access and on-device processing

Eigenvideo requests read/write access to the Apple Photos library so it can show, sort, preview, compress, share, and delete videos you choose. You may grant full or limited Photos access.

On-device processing may use video content and related properties such as Photos library identifiers; creation and modification dates; duration, resolution, file size, and filename; favorite and hidden status; album membership; embedded video metadata; and location metadata already attached to a video. This information is used only to provide the app’s features and is not sent to us.

If a video is stored only in iCloud Photos, iOS may download it from Apple when it is needed for a thumbnail, preview, compression, or sharing. That communication is handled by Apple and is subject to Apple’s privacy terms.

Compression and deletion

Compression is performed on-device. Eigenvideo creates a smaller 1080p copy, verifies that it is smaller, and saves it to Photos before offering to delete the original. Where Photos permits it, the app preserves relevant metadata and album membership.

Deletion occurs only after a user action and is performed through Apple Photos. If iCloud Photos is enabled, a deletion may affect other synced devices. Deleted items are generally handled through Photos’ Recently Deleted feature according to the user’s Photos and iCloud configuration.

Sharing

When you choose to share or AirDrop videos, Eigenvideo creates temporary local copies and presents the iOS system share sheet. A video is disclosed only to the recipient, app, or service you select. The selected recipient or service handles that video under its own privacy terms.

Local storage

Eigenvideo stores limited operational information inside its app container, including local Photos identifiers and cached size information; videos marked as kept or new; counts and storage-saving estimates; free-compression usage; StoreKit purchase-access state; interface preferences; and a recovery record for an unfinished compression replacement.

Temporary video files are removed after an operation completes or is cancelled. If an operation is interrupted, stale temporary files are scheduled for cleanup after 24 hours. Recovery records remain only as long as needed to finish or undo an interrupted replacement.

Deleting Eigenvideo removes its local app data under normal iOS behavior. It does not delete videos from Photos. Purchase history and entitlements are retained separately by Apple.

Purchases

Purchases and payment details are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Eigenvideo reads the StoreKit product and verified entitlement needed to display pricing, unlock Full Access, and restore a purchase. We do not receive your payment-card details.

Optional product analytics

Eigenvideo asks for your consent before enabling product analytics. If you choose “Share Analytics,” the app uses Mixpanel to send a random, persistent app analytics identifier; app version, build number, platform, and analytics environment; event timestamps; product interactions; aggregate video counts and storage values; filter choices; and purchase or restore outcomes. We use this information to understand feature adoption, reliability, purchase conversion, and the aggregate storage value users recover.

Analytics never includes your photos or videos, Photos library identifiers, filenames, dates, locations, albums, media content or metadata, transaction identifiers, payment details, error messages, or share destinations. We do not create an Eigenvideo user profile or connect the analytics identifier to an account because the app has no account system.

Mixpanel acts as our analytics processor. Eigenvideo sends events to Mixpanel’s European Union service endpoint, disables IP-based geolocation, automatic event collection, and feature flags, and does not use Mixpanel for advertising or cross-app tracking. Analytics data is retained for 12 months. For more information, see Mixpanel’s Privacy Policy and EU Data Residency information.

Product analytics is based on your consent. You may decline without losing app functionality, and you may later grant or withdraw consent under Settings → Privacy. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection. Settings also provides a deletion-request link containing the analytics identifier needed for us to locate the relevant Mixpanel data.

Permissions and controls

You can change or revoke Photos access in iOS Settings. You can also choose whether to share product analytics and whether to allow an app-icon badge showing the number of newly discovered videos. Eigenvideo does not use that permission to send promotional push notifications.

2. Website TestFlight List

If you submit your email address through the Eigenvideo website, it is sent to us through Formspree and used only to provide TestFlight availability or meaningful Eigenvideo launch updates.

Formspree acts as a service provider for the form submission and may process technical request information necessary to receive and protect the submission. We do not sell waitlist information or use it for cross-site advertising.

We retain a waitlist email until it is no longer needed for these updates or until you ask us to remove it. You may request removal at any time by contacting us. The website does not receive access to your Photos library or any information stored by the Eigenvideo app.

4. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. The app’s App Store privacy disclosures will be kept consistent with the practices described here.
